A Special Visit in Ravenswell...

Ravenswell received the Irish flag last Monday from members of the Irish Defence Force.
The Irish flag will be hung up outside our school next March in celebration of the 1916 Easter Rising.

The proclamation was read by some of the 6th class pupils and we learned all about looking after our National Flag.

Congratulations!

Big congratulations to all who took part in the BDA Art Competition.
We had a very deserving winner here in 1st class...
Meadbh was invited for lunch in the Barracuda restaurant and received a certificate and €20 cash prize.
Well Done Meadbh!

Floating and Sinking

Last week, as part of 'Science Week', First Class completed an experiment to see what type of materials sank and what type of materials floated.

We tested a variety of different thing to find out what type of material floats and what type of materials sink.

We worked in groups to test our predictions and we had so much fun!

We learnt the poem 'Witch, Witch' for Halloween. Watch as we recite our poem and have a look at all our super Halloween costumes!

Maths Trail

Here are some pictures and videos of Ms. Mulcahy's First Class Maths Trail.
Before we had our Halloween mid-term we went on a Maths Trail around our school.

It was super and we love working together!

City Scapes

Ms. Keane's class created their own City Scapes as part of Maths week. We based our idea on the artist Wassily Kadinsky's "Streets of Munich".
We used lots of 2D Shapes and coloured our cities using Oil Pastels.
They are really bright and colourful.
We are learning all about cities around the world this week and we are creating some group projects on London, Beijing, Sydney and New York.
